SEPTEMBER MORN

September Morn(ing).
Rassegnato no, triste neppure. Sereno? Finalmente sì.
September Morn(ing).  Is there something sweeter, more tendre and longing? As in this famous song - one of Madoi's favourite, because, yes, he had a very romantic soul - nothing, for him, could compare with those misty early hours, that he knew so well as he was used to wait for them all night long while painting, or just living the dark, giving it a soul with his thoughts, a voice with his sighs, colours with his brush strokes.  And more, he considered September days as magic days, full of possibilities, of new start ups, or of an accepted end with which you made up after a long and distressful struggle. Acceptance, so different from resignation, gives a new peace, a contendedness so  hard to find after having neglected the mere idea of it,  lost in the strain of fight. His last September, in 1975, started with this mood.  After having poured tons of colours, of emotions, of light in an incredible number of artworks, painted furiously in his last summer in Sesta - his favourite place - conscious of leaving it forever - after having made it up with his destiny while keeping for himself just a last wish - which remained just a wish i.e. the Monument for Genoa - he surrendered to his fate. Resigned , sad? Neither. After 50 years he was serene, at last and may be for the first time in his life.
